1.    INTRODUCTION

Wapda Administrative Staff College (WASC) is committed to bind potential of its employees through extensive training in management fields of professional activities. It takes a strategic, long term view of training and believes that appropriate investment in training and development pays rich dividends in term of improved employees performance and job satisfaction. A wide range of training programs and appropriate courses designed on the basis of training need analysis are delivered through WASC which is the premier training institute for WAPDA/PEPECO officers.

1.1    HISTORY

In July 1977 "WAPDA Academy" was established at Tarbela which was upgraded in March 1987 as "WAPDA Administrative and Management Staff College". In February 1989 the college was shifted from Tarbela to Lahore. In March 1999 Power Distribution Academy Islamabad, WAPDA Academy Tarbela, Audit & Accounts Institute Lahore and Telecommunication Training Centre, Islamabad were merged and renamed as "WAPDA ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF COLLEGE" (WASC) In its present building at H-8/1, Islamabad.

To provide state of the art learning environment for nation building activities with organizational success through enhanced performance skill.

1.4    MISSION STATEMENT

To intensify the leadership quality of both "individual" and "client" organizations through interactive learning models that immerse managers into a transformational experience which fosters professional, intellectual and personal development. This is achieved through presenting programs that challenge executives to grow as leaders, to shape powerful ideas into decisive action plans and to think and behave differently in a challenging business world.

1.5    OBJECTIVES

To plan and conduct the training programmes  responsive to the national needs in various specializations of management techniques.

To provide opportunities in acquiring knowledge and skills in improved technologies, management as well as human resource and information technology.

To develop expertise in problem identification and developing alternate strategies to solve problems of project management.

1.6    FACULTY

The core faculty comprises of Principal, Director General, Directors, Senior Instructors, Instructor. The support staff include A.D Admin and Budget and Accounts officer. In addition, the college relies on associate faculty of senior WAPDA/PEPCO officers and visiting faculty from corporate and public sectors.

Eminent persons who have made marks in their respective fields are regularly invited to interact with the participants so as to strengthen and enrich the latters's awareness of the realm outside their work situation and to broaden their mental horizon.

The Directors are experienced officers with distinguished teaching and professional experience and post graduate qualifications having attended relevant courses at eminent institutions of Pakistan.

Senior instructors and instructor are mostly post-graduate with considerable professional experience.
