INTRODUCTION

WAPDA Engineering Academy View

WAPDA Engineering Academy is located about 10 Kms from the Faisalabad city center on Sheikhupura Road. The academy spreads over an area of 32.5 aces.

Established in 1962 as Tech. Training Institute (Electrical) at Lahore. Shifted to Faisalabad in 1967 & in present WAPDA building in 1971. Acquired the status of WAPDA Engineering Academy in 1988.

Water Wing Training Institute shifted from Tarbela to this Academy in 1989 in order to consolidate the entire training activities of WAPDA.

From 1983 onward till the end of 2003, a German Agency for Technical Cooperation "GTZ" arranged the most sophisticated equipment for the infrastructural improvement of the Academy as a whole. Originally a Distribution Training Institute was established to train J.Es & LSs of Distribution at Shahdara Power Station in 1962.

WAPDA Engineering Academy (WEA), Faisalabad Constitutes a land mark for the dissemination of professional knowledge, strengthening the bondage between theory and practice. It has emerged as the sole agency for imparting technical trainings to the respective Engineers and Staff of Transmission/Distribution, Thermal/Hydel Generation, Water Sector of WAPDA, Government/ Semi Govt. Agencies, Industries and Private sector.

WAPDA Engineering Academy has emerged as the sole agency for imparting technical trainings to the respective Engineers and Staff of WAPDA/PEPCO & Private/Public sector in the fields of Transmission/Distribution, Thermal/Hydel Generation, Civil Engineering & Information Technology.

TRAINING COURSES OFFERED AT WEA FAISALABAD

Training courses at WAPDA Engineering Academy Faisalabad are currently offered in Generation, Transmission and Distribution of Power and development and management of Water Resources. Staff being trained includes; Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers, Junior Engineers, newly recruited Engineers and supporting vocational staff.


Training Courses Offered by Transmission and Distribution Section of the Academy

In total, Nine courses for various categories of staff are offered each year by the Transmission and Distribution Section of the Engineering Academy. The refresher courses are offered to Engineers & technical staff. On-job trainings are also offered to the staff of power supply companies an staff of public and private organizations. The faculty of the Academy consists of experienced Engineers and Staff. The technical knowledge of the trainees is enhanced through Class room lectures, Lab practical, mutual interaction and study tours of relevant installation in the country.
