GOMAL ZAM DAM PROJECT
USAID has released US$ 25.053 Million up till April 08, 2011 against demand of US$40 Million for the Power Portion of Gomal Zam Dam.
REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE OF UNITS 1,3 & 4 OF TARBELA DAM
USAID has signed an agreement with WAPDA to provide US$ 16.5 Million for the Project and has released US$ 6.6 Million so far. Other invoices have been sumitted.
SATPARA DAM PROJECT
USAID has signed an agreement with WAPDA to provide US$ 26 Million for Satpara Dam Project on January 07, 2011 and has released US$ 7.115 Million up till April 08, 2011. The balance funding is expected to be released in near future.
Pak-US Strategic Dialogue Meeting on October 20, 2010 at Washington D.C.
The Water Working Group met on October 20, 2010 under the 3rd round of Pak –U.S Strategic Dialogue in Washington DC. Pakistan side was led by Mr. Muhammad Shakil Durrani, Chairman WAPDA, while the U.S side was led Ms. Mario Otero, Under Secretary of State for Democracy and Global Affairs.

USAID energy and finance specialists met with WAPDA top management on August 02, 2010 at the WAPDA House in anticipation of coordinating efforts on the Gomal Zam and Satpara Dam projects. USAID and WAPDA discussed technical, environmental and financial details necessary to complete the two projects to bring the benefits of more economic opportunities to the people of South Waziristan, D.I. Khan and Tank from the Gomal Zam project and to the people of Skradu in Gilgit-Baltistan from the Satpara Dam project.

International Visitors Leadership Program(IVLP)
Two groups of water experts from Pakistan have attended the IVLP under Pak-US strategic dialogue.
Water Supply & Management, October 19-31, 2010. A group comprising of 5 water experts visited USA.
Water Supply & Management II, Feburary 28-March 19, 2011. Second group comprising of 8 water experts visited USA.
Transboundary Water Resource Management September 12-30, 2011 third group Comprising of 2 Experts (Water and hydel) Visited USA.

PAKISTAN-UNITED STATES STRATEGIC DIALOGUE WATER WORKING GROUP HELD ON June 17, 2010 at Islamabad (Pakistan)

As a part of the Strategic Dialogue in different sectors, technical experts from Pakistan and US met on June-17 in Islamabad to discuss the challenges and management of Pakistan's Water Resources. The dialogue also underscored the commitment of the United States to a long-term partnership with Pakistan, focused on improving the water and energy availability for the Pakistani people through institutional development and regulatory capacities dealing with drinking and irrigation water use.
The Government of Pakistan delegation was led by Raja Pervez Ashraf, Minister of Water and Power, with Mr. Kamal Majidulla, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Water Resources and Agriculture, Mr. Shahid Rafi, Secretary Ministry of Water and Power, and Mr. Shakil Durrani, Chairman of the Water and Power Development Authority, formed the part of team. The U.S. Delegation was led by Ms. Maria Otero, Undersecretary for Democracy and Global Affairs at the Department of State, and included Mr. David Lipton, Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for International Economics at the National Security Council.

3rd Pak – U.S. Strategic Dialogue Held in Nov, 2011

The United States and Pakistan held the third Water Working Group dialogue on 02 November 2011 at Islamabad to review progress and agree to steps to support Pakistan's efforts to achieve water security. The Water working was established as part of the U.S Pakistan strategic Dialogue to ensure that U.S assistance responds directly to the needs of the Pakistani people.
