The project is located on Indus River near Gilit. Power House and Dam sites are 560 km & 610 km, respectively from Islamabad.

PRESENT STATUS  
  • Hydro Planning Organization in association with short term consultants has finalized a Pre-Feasibility report in March 2005.

  • ECNEC approved the PC-II for carrying out feasibility study and detailed design on 14.12.05 for Rs.832.716 million inclusive of FEC of Rs.232.733 million.

  • Contract Agreement signed between WAPDA and Joint Venture of Mott MacDonald Ltd (Lead Partner), Sogreah Consultants SAS, Nippon Koei Co; Ltd, MM Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd, DMC Consultants for Feasibility Study, Detailed Engineering Design and preparation of Tender Documents.

  • The inception Report comprising of 2 Volumes was submitted by Consultants on August 09 2007. The comments on inception report were communicated to consultants for incorporation.

  • Reviews of different alternative about dam and powerhouse sites are under study by the Consultants for final selection of layout.

  • Survey and field investigations through core drilling, geological mapping, hydrographic survery and geophysical survey are in progress.

  • The establishment of field office of WAPDA at Gilgit is in progress.

  • A presentation by Bunji Hydropower Consultants was given to Chairman, WAPDA on 16 June 2008.

  • The Study will be completed in April 2010.
