 The Project is located on Indus River near Gilgit. Power House and dam sites are 560 km & 610 km, respectively from Islamabad.

To design a 7100 MW Hydropower Project to roduce mean annual hydroelectricity of 24088 GWh.

PC-II approved by ECNEC on 14.12.2005 for Rs. 832.716 Million with FEC of Rs.  232.733 Million.

Revised PC-II covering the updated expenditures of Consultancy and investigations was approved by ECNEC for an amount of Rs. 2091.406 million with FEC of Rs. 33.965 million on 26.05.2011.

PRESENT STATUS / PROGRESS         
Physical Progress
  • WAPDA completed Pre-Feasibility  Study in March 2005.

  • Contract Agreement for Feasibility Study, Detailed Engineering Design and Tender Documents was signed on 25.04.2007 between WAPDA and Consultants. Consultants mobilized on 9.05.2007.
  • Revised PC-II covering the updated expenditures of Consultancy and investigations was approved by ECNEC for an amount of Rs. 2091.406 million with FEC of Rs. 33.965 million on 26.05.2011.
  • Feasibility Report was submitted by the Consultants on March 31, 2009.

  • Model studies for four models: Sectional Model of Spillway, Comprehensive Model of Dam Area, Low and Mid Level outlets and Tailrace outlet models have been constructed. All tests proposed by Consultants and POE have been performed. Three models are retained for a period of one year upto June 2014.
  • The Consultancy period for Bunji Consultants was extended up to 30.09.2013 and Consultants (JV) have submitted the Design Report & Tender Documents on 30.09.2013.

Present Status

  • PC-I have been conditionally cleared by Ministry of Water & Power on 22.01.2014.

  • Ministry of Water & Power vide letter dated 18.04.2014 desired to update and resubmit the PC-I after incorporating the desired information provided by WAPDA.
