KOHALA HYDROPOWER PROJECT

Location

The project is located in Muzaffarabad District, Azad Jammu & Kashmir. The dam site is proposed just upstream of Domel on Jhelum River, 174 km from Islamabad and powerhouse is located 7 km upstream from Kohala Bridge.

TRANSMISSION LINE  

This scheme would be connected to National Grid at Rawat near Islamabad through double circuit 500 KV transmission line.

PRESENT STATUS  

 

  • ECNEC approved PC-II of the project for Feasibility Study, Detailed Design and Tender Documents for Rs. 545.732 million including FEC 209.199 million on 23.08.06.

  • Consultancy Contract Agreement signed on 26.06.2007 at cost of Rs.312.467 million with a Joint Venture of:

        M/s. SMEC International Australia.

        M/s. Sogreah, France.

        M/s. Scot Wilson, UK.

        M/s. Mirza Associates Engineering Services Pakistan.

        M/s. Engineering General Consultant, Pakistan.

  • Comments on the Inception Report received from WAPDA formations have been incorporated in final inception report by Consultants.

  • The available date, report and drawings provided to Consultants.

  • The scope of drilling received for vetting from Consultants. Estimates received from DID and approved and funds transferred.

  • Scope for Topographic survey finalized and awarded. Surveying is in progress.

  • Report on Project optimization energy and power calculation, hydrology, neo-tectonic and environment received and circulated for comments from WAPDA formations for comments.

  • The study will be completed in August 2009.

  • The Feasibility study will be completed in August, 2009.
