Location

Palas Valley is the left bank tributaries of Indus River in Kohistan District, Khyber Pukhtunkhwa. The confluence of Chor nullah (Palas Valley) is located 12 km upstream of Patan town. The project is located 335 km from Islamabad.

PROJECT CONSULTANTS

PRESENT STATUS/PROGRESS  

 

·        KfW of Germany is financing under grant for preparation of feasibility study of he project. M/s ILF of Germany JVs has been appointed as consultants for the project studies. Consultancy Contract Agreement was signed on 29.07.2006 and Consultants mobilized in August 2006.

.        As per Phase-I study, Lower Palas Scheme (621 MW) is ranked first to be taken up for feasibility study. The other identified Projects are Middle Palas (398 MW) and upper Palas (157 MW).

·        As per Phase-II, after having site investigations and data collection, the Consultants submitted Draft Feasibility Report of 665 MW Lower Palas Scheme in December, 2009.

.        After incorporating comments of WAPDA, KfW and POE, the Consultants have submitted the Feasibility Report in June 2010.

·        WAPDA Authority in its meeting on 31.08.2010 has decided to implement Lower Palas
          Hydropower Project in Public private partnership (PPP) mode. EOI documents for PPP mode
          have  been prepared in consultation with CCC, WAPDa and IPDF, Islamabad.

.        EOI Notice has been published in the local newspaper on 04-07-2011. EOI documents are 
          being issued to interested sponsors. The last date for submission of EOI was 01-10-2011
          which has been extended to 18-11-2011. Four bids are submitted and the evaluation of bids
          is in progress.
