PHANDAR HYDROPOWER PROJECT
Location

The project area is located between Phandar Lake and Chhashi Gol, near the Chhashi village on the right side of Ghizar River in Ghizar District of Gilgit Baltistan. Phandar Lake is located  about 160 km north-west of Gilgit town and 772 km north of Islamabad.

Detailed Engineering Design and preparation of Tender  Documents.
Objectives/Benefits
To design a power house of 80 MW Hydropower Project with mean annual  hydroelectricity of 348 GWH.

PRESENT STATUS / PROGRESS  

·        Feasibility study was completed by HPO WAPDA in collaboration with GTZ of Germany in 2003.

·        Consultancy agreement for detailed Engineering Design and Preparation of tender documents have been signed between WAPDA (Hydro) Planning & Phandar Hydro consultants JV on 22.10.2010.

.       Hydrographic survey of Phandar Lake and Ghizar River is completed by ISRIP, WAPDA Report has been submitted to the Consultants. ort.

.        Topographic survey of important structures is completed by T&M Division, WAPDA, Peshawar. Report has been submitted to the Consultants. 

.        Required 150 m drilling has been completed by Dams Investigation Division (DID), WAPDA. 

.     CMTL, WAPDA has completed the seismic refraction survey and other geo-technical investigation. Results/Report have been submitted to the Consultants. Consultants have submitted Design Memorandum to WAPDA for review and comments. 

.        Comments on design memorandum offered by WAPDA Organizations have been sent to Consultants for consideration in the final design.
